Justice for Savanah and all of the Others

Nov, 04 2007 - 3:20 AM

PRINCE GEORGE/CJCI-CKNW(AM980) - The coroner's jury at the inquest into the death of Prince George toddler Savannah Hall has come to a verdict.

The five-woman jury deliberated for nine hours and determined Hall died from a brain injury due to suffocation.

They have ruled her death a homicide, but that classification does not assign blame.

26 recommendations were made, directed mainly at the Ministry of Children and Families.

They include asking the ministry to improve procedures when allegations of neglect or mistreatment are brought forward and to clarify the policy on the use of a harness.

During testimony, the inquest heard a harness was used to treat the little girl's night terrors.

Savannah Hall was found unresponsive in her Prince George foster care home in January 2001 and died a few days later in hospital.
